CB writes: “First, great website. I have a question about what made you guys start Cloture Club? I’ve meet my girlfriend from one of the events you posted. Thanks guys!”

Answer:

CB, thank you for your support and congrats on the love connection. In answer to your question, as you might have noticed DC in general and the Hill in particular are pretty social atmospheres with a lot going on and a lot of people new to the area cycling through. The members of Cloture Club are all young professionals in DC. We started to find that the longer we were here, the more friends and acquaintances would turn to us for the latest information on what was happening that night or for the inside information on how to get a job in DC. Thus the idea for a website was born. This way we could put all the information out there in one place and also create a space where people could submit information to us on what’s going on for others to see.

We’ve been at it for several months now and just started this Q and A page. Not sure what the future holds for CC, but stay tuned!

MF writes: “I’m interning in the House this summer. What clubs or organizations could I join to network and meet with Capitol Hill staffers?”

Answer:

There are plenty of ways to get involved on Cap Hill. One good way to start is to join your office’s softball team. Most go out to local bars afterwards for flip cup rematches with the opposing team. If sports are not your thing, try going to the free events going on during the week. The Hill is networking happy so it’s pretty hard not to meet new people at these. Also, you should look into joining your state society or the state society for your office if it isn’t the same state. I’m a member of several. They have events throughout the year and membership is usually pretty reasonable: http://ncss.typepad.com/ Good luck and welcome to DC!

Thanks everyone for submitting your questions. I’ll be back next time with some great questions asked by you. Got a question? Get it answered here!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
