JOB: Communications, Finance, and Field Internships, Statewide Election

The Giles Perkins for Attorney General Campaign seeks candidates for
internships to aid the campaign’s full-time staff with communications,
fundraising, political and field organizing and other campaign duties
in this competitive statewide race. The internships will be available
from mid-March through Election Day – mostly in our Birmingham
headquarters and some in statewide satellite offices.

Responsibilities of each position would include:

Communications
* composing Press releases and participating in messaging meetings
* combing the daily news clips, real time news, social media and
blogs for information about the candidate
* working with members of the press in conveying the candidate’s
message; setting up interviews, etc.

Fundraising in conjunction with working day-to-day with the Finance
Director
* staffing the candidate’s day-to-day fundraising (calls, events,
meetings, etc.)
* follow-up with donors
* scheduling fundraisers
* Event coordination, securing hosts and headliners, and event
logistics in general
* General campaign scheduling

Political and Field Organizing

* volunteer recruitment and management – finding campaign’s
committed grassroots organizers in advance of Coordinated Campaign
* field/community organizing, canvassing, phone-banking, field
events (rallies, etc.)
* assessing polling data and determining, with senior staff and
candidate, best approach in conveying message to voters

Night and weekend work are readily available. Some travel with
candidate is also available.

Applicants should be goal-oriented and have strong verbal skills, be
able to work well with others, know above all else – all our jobs
include conveying our message to voters, and be able to work within
deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Those with Alabama ties
preferred, but not required.
