Repairing Computer/Network Connections for the Recording Hardware: This includes problems with our tape drives, general permissions on the three PCs, any cable issue or power issues.
Monitoring Programming Schedule And Recording Quality: Ensuring that program guides are up to date and we’re recording everything we intend to and that the recordings are in good order.
Running Backups of HQ data: Each week, we maintain hundreds of hours of recording time, which requires regular data transfer.
Helping on Rapid Response and Video Request Needs and Database Maintenance: Although pulling video clips and monitoring database quality are responsibilities held by other people, this position should help with those responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Although experience with video files and the specific hardware and software listed above is preferred, strong familiarity with Windows workstation troubleshooting and repair is required. Political experience and judgment are a plus, as is experience with SQL programming and Microsoft Access.

Democracy for America is committed to electing progressive Democrats at all
levels of office in all 50 states. To achieve that goal, DFA is announcing
our new Dean Corps program to support DFA endorsed candidates in races
across the country. In the lead up to this year’s 2010 elections, DFA will
hire, train and place organizers on key progressive campaigns.
The program will run from September 1st through November 8th, 2010.
Participants will be paid $500 per week plus the option of joining DFA’s
health care plan. Housing will be provided free of charge by the campaign.
All Dean Corps organizers will participate in an intensive 4 day training
led by senior DFA staff at our headquarters in Burlington, VT before joining
their assigned campaign.
This is the perfect position for individuals interested in starting or
renewing a career in progressive politics. The ideal candidate will have at
least 1 year of paid or volunteer campaign experience. Dean Corps Organizers
will be assigned a supervisor on the campaign and will report to the DFA
Field Director.
Responsibilities Include:
• Meeting daily volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals
• Organizing Phone Banks and Door-to-Door Canvasses
• Representing Democracy for America in a professional manner
• Mobilizing DFA members in your campaigns area

For years, conservatives have been using national security as a wedge
issue, claiming that progressives are unwilling to defend the United
States. Our country needs strong progressive leaders who grasp the
threats of the 21st century. Leaders who know how to beat back
political attack and get the policy right. But do you know why the
American people believe conservatives are better able to protect this
country? Do you know the five main schools of thought on national
security and foreign policy?
In this training we’ll help you:
- Understand and communicate the progressive security story.
- Discuss the progressive security narrative and contrast it
effectively with the story told by conservatives.
- Find easy and memorable ways to connect when communicating about
national security.
- Recognize the mental shortcuts people use when thinking about
national security.
The presentation will also focus on effective non verbal
communications strategies for any professional environment.
This seminar will be helpful for those planning on volunteering or
working on a Democratic campaign this fall, aspiring to work for a
progressive organization especially dealing with issues of security or
defense, or currently work in a progressive leaning organization.
Our Presenter-Michael Moschella
Michael Moschella currently serves as Political Director for the
Truman National Security Project, managing Truman’s political training
programs, working with elected officials, candidates for Federal,
State and local office, Congressional staffers, political consultants,
and progressive activists to promote a strong, smart and principled
21st century national security framework. Michael was previously a
Democratic campaign consultant with expertise in voter targeting,
grassroots field mobilizations, and online political organizing.
Michael has consulted with and managed Congressional campaigns in FL
and MA, a Gubernatorial race in MA, and state-level races in CA and
MA. In 2004 and 2005, Michael worked with NDN (the New Democrat
Network) on a variety of projects including: the creation of the New
Politics Institute, a think tank for new political strategy; the NDN
Hispanic Project, then the largest Spanish-language political ad
campaign in US history; the Restoring America’s Promise campaign,
which promoted progressive values in “red-states; ” and NDN-PAC. He is
a graduate of Cornell University, and a native of Boston, MA.

Democratic members of Congress to protect, and control of the state
legislature in the balance, Kentucky looks to be one of the true
battlegrounds for 2010. The Kentucky Democratic Party is seeking both
experienced and eager-to-learn field staff for its coordinated
campaign team.
Current openings are as follows:
The Deputy Field Director will assist the Field Director in the
execution of all aspects of the field program, with an emphasis on
staff training and GOTV preparation. Management experience is
necessary.
Regional Field Directors will implement the field program and oversee
its day-to-day operation in their region of the state. They will
manage and motivate a team of organizers spread across multiple
offices, and will establish and maintain relationships with key
political contacts in their region. Extensive, numbers-driven
organizing experience is necessary, with past staff management a
strong plus.
Field Organizers will serve as the face of the campaign in the area of
the state where they are based. They will lead the campaign’s voter
contact effort, including nightly calls and weekend canvassing, and
will recruit and manage a network of volunteers in their area. Other
activities will include reaching out to community leaders, staffing
events and candidate appearances, and providing feedback to improve
the program. Previous experience is not necessary (there simply is no
better introduction to campaigning) , but will be considered in
assigning office leadership roles.

With one of the most competitive U.S. Senate races in the country, two
Democratic members of Congress to protect, and control of the state
legislature in the balance, Kentucky looks to be one of the true
battlegrounds for 2010. The Kentucky Democratic Party is seeking both
experienced and eager-to-learn field staff for its coordinated
campaign team.
Current openings are as follows:
The Deputy Field Director will assist the Field Director in the
execution of all aspects of the field program, with an emphasis on
staff training and GOTV preparation. Management experience is
necessary.
Regional Field Directors will implement the field program and oversee
its day-to-day operation in their region of the state. They will
manage and motivate a team of organizers spread across multiple
offices, and will establish and maintain relationships with key
political contacts in their region. Extensive, numbers-driven
organizing experience is necessary, with past staff management a
strong plus.
Field Organizers will serve as the face of the campaign in the area of
the state where they are based. They will lead the campaign’s voter
contact effort, including nightly calls and weekend canvassing, and
will recruit and manage a network of volunteers in their area. Other
activities will include reaching out to community leaders, staffing
events and candidate appearances, and providing feedback to improve
the program. Previous experience is not necessary (there simply is no
better introduction to campaigning) , but will be considered in
assigning office leadership roles.

CAMPAIGN MANAGER
The Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee (HDCC), a
permanent, full-time organization dedicated to maintaining a
Democratic majority in the closely divided Pennsylvania State House,
is currently accepting applications for Campaign Managers for targeted
State House races.
Key Responsibilities:
• Overseeing all campaign operations for a targeted State House
campaign (including, but not limited to: budget, office, staff,
volunteers, etc.)
• Building and maintaining relationships with state and local elected
officials, county parties, candidates and key partners in the labor
and PAC communities.
• Working with HDCC staff to devise comprehensive Campaign, Finance,
Targeting and Field plans, and helping campaigns set and achieve

• Scheduling candidate’s time and keeping candidate on-track as it

• Attending and participating in candidate and campaign training

• Reporting the campaign’s progress to HDCC’s Executive Director and
Regional Political/Field Directors.
• Working in concert with the Field Director and Field Staff to
execute the campaign’s Field plan and complete all requisite data
entry.
Key Qualifications:
• Political campaign and/or labor organizing experience required;
political fundraising experience preferred.
• Experience writing and implementing Campaign, Finance and Targetting
plans.
• Ability to direct and manage staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work well under pressure, be
detail oriented and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, oral and written
communications skills.
• Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize
work effectively.
• Strong working knowledge of Votebuilder (VAN), research tools such
as Lexis-Nexis, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access,
Powerpoint, Outlook).
• Basic IT knowledge and experience with Design software (InDesign,
Powerpoint, etc.) preferred.
The Campaign Manager will report to the Regional Political/Field
Director in his/her region, as well as the Executive Director.
Campaign Managers must be willing to relocate immediately, and must
have a car.

Regional Organizer
The Transportation for America Campaign is seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to develop and manage a network of partner organizations and stakeholders in key states for our campaign to reform federal transportation policy. This position will focus primarily on states in the West and South.
The Regional Field Organizer will work in the Washington, D.C. offices of the Transportation for America campaign and will report to the Campaign Field Director. This is a full-time position with some work on nights and weekends required. Regular travel outside D.C. will also be required.
Responsibilities: The Regional Field Organizer will develop and maintain regional coalitions and networks of organizations, community and business leaders, and public officials, to assist their efforts to engage in policy advocacy, media outreach and organizing events. The Organizer will help analyze and translate federal policy goals and “best practices” in transportation reform into a state and local context through outreach to local groups and allies.
Qualifications: At least four years of experience organizing with political or issue campaigns, and bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Experience with coalition management required. Experience working on bicycling, walking, transit, or community development issues and knowledge of the West or South is helpful, but not required. Strong communication and writing skills and an ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people and audiences are essential. The incumbent is responsible for assisting department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all DNC employees. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Maintaining Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database as needed; Benefits, COBRA, FSA and Dependent Care FSA administration
Assist in filing of personnel documents as well as assisting in handling general employee questions/troublesh ooting; Processing bills and submitting vendor invoices for payment;
Assists in conducting new employee orientations and employment verifications
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of human resources or related experience;
Undergraduate degree is a plus;
Experience with HR application systems helpful;
Must possess sound organizational skills, pay strict attention to detail, and maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
Must have demonstrated excellent time-management skills with the ability to competently handle several tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Field Organizer, Ike Skelton for Congress
Details
The Ike Skelton for Congress campaign is seeking qualified applicants
to fill several Field Organizer positions. Field Organizers will
implement the campaign’s field plan within their respective region.
Applicants should expect to work long hours and have access to
reliable transportation.
Specific job responsibilities of campaign field organizers include,
but are not limited to the following:
• Recruit, train, and manage campaign volunteers
• Manage voter contact activities; phone banks and canvasses
• Represent the campaign at local meetings and community events
• One-on-one meetings with local grassroots activists and supporters
• Organize volunteers for visibility events
• Manage local campaign field office
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following:
• Effective organizational and time-management skills
• Disciplined work ethic and the ability to manage multiple projects
