Position: Communications Director

Director, Civic Health Index
America’s Civic Health Index (CHI) is the definitive measure of our nation’s civic engagement. This
annual report elevates the discussion of how our country and communities are building a more informed,
engaged, giving, and trusting citizenry. Through measuring a variety of civic indicators, the CHI
educates Americans about our civic life and motivates citizens, leaders and policymakers to strengthen it.
NCoC, in partnership with the Civic Health Indicators Working Group, launched the Civic Health Index
in 2006, measuring the civic trends over the last 30 years. In 2008, NCoC released three state level
reports, localizing the data and telling the story of how changes in civic health affect specific
communities. In 2010, we will be publishing our fifth annual report focused on these national trends, and
expanding our local report to 15 states and cities.
NCoC seeks an entrepreneurial leader, based in Washington, DC, who can help expand this program into
all 50 states and over 100 cities within the next few years. This individual will be responsible for
managing the growth and operation of this program and assist in crafting a strategy that ensures these
