Congressman Gary C. Peters, representing Michigan’s 9th District, has openings for unpaid interns this fall in his Washington, DC office. Interns in the Washington office will attend briefings and hearings, draft constituent correspondence, and conduct tours of the Capitol building. Interns also will answer phones as well as perform data entry and general office duties. Internships are available expressly for the purpose of furthering educational and career opportunities; therefore they are unpaid and usually awarded to college-level students.

Fall Internships – House National Security Subcommittee

The majority staff of a subcommittee in the U.S. House of Representatives is seeking full-time graduate and undergraduate interns for fall 2010. The subcommittee deals primarily with foreign policy, national security, and defense issues. The internship presents a great opportunity to work closely with a knowledgeable and hard-working staff on critical oversight issues and to gain firsthand experience on Capitol Hill.

The best candidates will have an interest in U.S. foreign policy and national security and will be enrolled in or recently graduated from college, a graduate program, or law school. The internship is primarily research based, with administrative responsibilities as needed. Press Internship with House Democrat

Press intern needed for conservative “Blue Dog” Democrat House member from Louisiana beginning immediately and lasting minimum of three months. Primary responsibilities include assembling daily news clips, assisting communications director with Web site updates (no prior web skills required), drafting news releases, writing email newsletters, media monitoring and assisting communications director as needed.

Assembling daily news clips will require early morning hours (roughly 7 – 8:30 a.m. five days per week) and reliable home Internet access, but in-office hours are flexible (10 hours/week minimum).
