Our Young Professionals Cultural Society cordially invites you for a special evening at the Embassy of Canada. In addition to sampling Canadian treats, wines, and more, we are offering a unique emphasis on a magnificent film and art gallery displayed in the embassy’s private gallery.
Experience new wonders while mixing and mingling with our neighbors to the North as we step on foreign soil for a truly remarkable cultural evening at the Embassy of Canada.
Featuring:
1) CANADIAN ART OPENING: Nipirasait: Many Voices
– In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Kinngait Studios of Cape Dorset, Nunavut, the Embassy is proud to invite you to the opening of Nipirasait: Many Voices; a collection of 36 Inuit prints showcasing a distinctive portrait of Inuit life and culture in the Canadian Arctic.
The works in the anniversary collection, including perspectives of Inuit artists young and old, offer an opportunity to appreciate traditional culture while looking to the future of contemporary Northern art.
Notable artists of all ages depict the power and beauty of the natural world, town and camp life, traditional Inuit stories and mythic creatures, and in more recent years, influences from across Canada. Their work illustrates a singular lyricism in its portrayal of humans and animals in their surroundings.
Embassy and Gallery staff will be on hand to offer a rare and unique perspective into these paintings and can answer questions on their interpretation and Canadian cultural significance.
2) CANADIAN WINES, BEERS, AND LIGHT APPETIZERS
- Enjoy unique Canadian wines and beers this evening coupled with light appetizers.
3) CANADIAN CULTURAL AND TOURISM FILM
- TTD has arranged a special screening of an amazing film highlighting Canada. Join us in the Embassy’s private theater for a cultural film portraying the sights, people, and general wonders of our Canadian friends.
