Animal Health Institute hosts 13th Annual Celebrity Pet Night on Capitol Hill;

Event brings awareness to connection between animal health and human health

(Washington, DC) – On Tuesday, September 14, the Animal Health Institute (AHI) will celebrate America’s pets as the organization welcomes members of Congress and their staff to mix and mingle with pets and colleagues alike at the 13th annual Pet Night on Capitol Hill.

AHI’s Pet Night is an annual favorite on Capitol Hill, and this year’s event will feature George, the friendly Great Dane who plays “Marmaduke” in the new hit movie and Charlie, the cat who plays “Mr. Jinx” in “The Little Fockers.” Members of the media are also invited to an exclusive meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with the animals and their trainers immediately prior to the reception.

The Animal Health Institute represents companies that make medicines for pets and farm animals, and is the organization behind the award-winning educational campaign – Healthy People. Healthy Animals. Healthy Planet. The program was established to shed light on the nexus between human health and animal health, as many people are unaware of the health issues they can share with pets and all animals. With pets and people living in such close quarters, increased awareness of the connection between human and animal health will help improve understanding of how we can prevent disease transmission from pets and food animals.
