Internship Opening – Communications Department
Do you want to join the fight for death tax repeal and learn communications strategy? The American Family Business Institute (AFBI) has an opening for a Communications Intern. In the communications department you will participate in projects to educate lawmakers, opinion leaders, and the general public about the death tax and how it impacts family business owners, farmers, and entrepreneurs. This is an unpaid position for college credit.
Major Projects:
§ Blogging about legislation, policy studies, and impacted family business owners
§ Drafting letters-to-the-editor for publications
§ Building the company’s social media presence on facebook and twitter
§ Introducing the company to reporters and bloggers
§ Interviewing people who have been affected by the death tax
§ Overseeing voter education projects
Required Skills
Candidates for this position should have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. They should have the following skills and experience: professional attire and demeanor, humility, good communication skills (including writing ability and telephone skills), internet research skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, and Excel. The candidate should be detail-oriented, have strong initiative and demonstrated resourcefulness, and be willing to take on a variety of assignments, both working independently and as part of a team. A successful candidate will also have a solid commitment to permanent repeal of the Death Tax.
