The Director of Government Relations reports to the Vice President for Government Relations/Director of Real Estate.
Working as part of the Government Relations team, the Director of Government Relations supports TCF project leaders, primarily by helping to secure federal land acquisition funding through Congressional appropriations, agency grant programs and other public funding sources, in order to complete real estate projects.
Responsibilities include:
• Working with TCF project leaders to help select, implement and complete land acquisition projects. In the case of larger projects, the Director of Government Relations will work as part of a team.
• Securing federal funding for land conservation projects through annual Congressional appropriations bills, in conjunction with landowners and non-profit partners.
• Advancing appropriations and authorizing legislation to provide federal land conservation funding, such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), to help the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS), National Park Service (NPS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), USDA/Forest Service (USFS) and state agencies achieve their land acquisition goals.
• Supporting programmatic funding and TCF participation in a range of federal grant programs including National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and FWS coastal habitat acquisition programs, North American Wetlands Conservation Act, Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund Section 6 grants, the Migratory Bird/Duck Stamp and federal Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration activities.
• Working with field offices to secure funding from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
• Work with TCF partners to create and expand units of the National Park System and National Wildlife Refuge System.
• Providing information to TCF field offices about the federal budget, appropriations process, federal grant programs, authorizing legislation and rulemakings along with agency policies and decisions.
• Tracking authorizing legislation including Farm Bill, Water Resources Development Act and other high priority federal authorizing legislation.
• Representing TCF in partnerships with businesses, landowners and conservation organizations relating to federal appropriations for projects, overall funding levels, and agency budgets.
• Ensuring compliance with Congressional and executive branch lobbying rules.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
Minimum of five years of work experience in Congress, the Executive Branch or related private sector employment. Must have an understanding of the federal budget and appropriations process and federal land managing agencies. Must demonstrate ability to achieve results, work with others and a strong commitment to land conservation including fish and wildlife habitat protection, outdoor recreation and historic preservation. Strong written and verbal communication skills needed.

• Extensive knowledge of relevant and current civil and human rights issues;
• Previous labor movement experience is preferred but candidate must possess a working knowledge of the labor and social justice movements;

*ORGANIZING & ACTION FELLOWS*
At Power Shift 2011, 10,000 young leaders came together to reclaim our democracy and move our country beyond dirty energy. With the largest organizing training in history and compelling actions, we launched into the next wave of grassroots actions. The summer Organizing & Action Fellows will help build on our momentum to coordinate campaign efforts to win substantive victories, specifically honing in on shifting government support from dirty energy to clean energy investments.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Lead outreach and recruitment efforts to activists around the country interested in engaging in the Make Big Polluters Pay campaign
- Organize strategic actions in DC to pressure President Obama and Congress to follow through on commitments to shift Big Oil handouts to clean energy investments
- Help coordinate offline-to-online organizing, supporting community leaders to tell their stories and share best practices online

*ONLINE ORGANIZING FELLOWS*

The summer Online Organizing Fellows will help build on our momentum and grow the new WeArePowerShift.org online community. The role of this Fellow is to use online organizing and new media as means to communicate the work of Power Shift leaders and inspire people into action.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Work with the online team to help manage a growing online community for the Power Shift movement
- Engage EAC supporters through Twitter and Facebook
- Draft email blasts and online actions
- Analyze data to help us better communicate with supporters and tell the story of our work
- Assist in the development and maintenance of new media outreach/advocacy
- Support the EAC online team in a variety of tasks and strategy development

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Wilson Center Fellowships
The Center awards approximately 20-25 residential fellowships annually to individuals with outstanding project proposals in a broad range of the social sciences and humanities on national and/or international issues. Topics and scholarship should relate to key public policy challenges or provide the historical and/or cultural framework to illuminate policy issues of contemporary importance.

Eligibility
• Citizens or permanent residents from any country (foreign nationals must be able to hold a valid passport and obtain a J1 Visa)
• Men and women with outstanding capabilities and experience from a wide variety of -backgrounds (including government, the corporate world, professions, and academia)
• Academic candidates holding a Ph.D. (Ph.D. must be received by the application deadline of October 1)
• Academic candidates demonstrating scholarly achievement by publications beyond their doctoral dissertations
• Practitioners or policymakers with an equivalent level of professional achievement

This individual will contribute to the overall strategy, planning, and messaging of events for the Foundation and the Institute for Electric Efficiency (IEE). She/he will support the Edison Foundation/IEE’s mission and culture, characterized by innovation, entrepreneurship, public service, and dedication to educating, collaborating, and connecting with the stakeholders and advocacy organization involved in the electric power industry. She/he will report to the Executive Vice President of the Edison Foundation.
This individual will maximize and leverage the existing brand recognition of the Edison Foundation/IEE in order to promote and fund events to advance the Foundation’s/IEE’s most critical goals as well as recruit sponsors for events and programs as a means to developing a sustainable revenue stream for the Foundation. Events undertaken by the Foundation/IEE are conceptualized and planned by the Edison Foundation/IEE staff in collaboration with colleagues at the Edison Electric Institute and in consultation with the Edison Foundation Board of Directors and the IEE Management and Advisory committees. The EF Development Director will publicize, promote, and secure sponsoring partners for broad-based events hosted by the Foundation and IEE.
We are seeking accomplished, sophisticated, and externally-focused candidates to cultivate, solicit, and steward long-term partnerships and sponsorships. The Development Director will be an individual who can successfully recruit sponsors for events on an ongoing basis and can build successful relationships.
Responsibilities
 Proactively plan and execute a portfolio of professional conferences and events by collaboratively developing messaging, managing sponsor recruitment and relationship management, and managing specific events (where appropriate) to optimally position events to achieve Edison Foundation/IEE revenue goals.
 Informed by the priorities of our utility members and in collaboration with EEI, assist in developing messages and communication strategies.
 Direct all promotion, advertising, and sponsorship initiatives for the Edison Foundation and Institute for Electric Efficiency conferences and events.
 Identify, recruit, and solicit event sponsorships, organizational partnerships, and other funding sources.
