First Annual Flip Cup Championship and Pool Party

Description: Looking for a break, and a totally unserious and mindless way to spend a few hours, not to mention a pool and grill out? If so, swing by 300 Massachusetts Avenue, this Saturday at 2 p.m. Doug Thornell, Brianna Keilar, Christine Delargy, Maureen Shanahan, and Brad Bauman are hosting a flip cup tourney to benefit the Washington Humane Society.
The Rules are pretty simple:
- Teams of four will face off in a tournament-style competition that will be a test of endurance, skill, strategy and your ability to drink lots of Miller Lite.
- Suggested contribution to the Washington Humane Society is $10 and of course more is always appreciated.
- You have a choice of putting your four person team together in advance or just showing up and we will assign you a team.
- As you wait for your game(s), enjoy the pool, as well as plenty to eat and drink
Make no mistake this will be a very serious competition, with the winners receiving a trophy, fame, notoriety, and maybe a hangover.

When: 2 p.m. this Saturday, July 30 (assuming we aren’t dragged into work, but keeping our fingers crossed)
Where: Mass Court Apartments Roof Deck

(Use the side entrance on 4th and H street – right next to the Parking Garage)
Metro Accessible — Judiciary Square is the closet metro spot, it’s two blocks away.
There is also parking along the street and a garage.

Let me just say, as a former tenant of this apartment building that this is the worst idea ever. The Management has been cracking down on events on the pool deck and even more so have been cracking down on booze and more than 3 guests per apt up there.
Also, the pool blows. The chemicals in the water turn your bathing suit into a brown hue. There is VERY limited deck space of people up there already. So get ready to have a shit-tastic time.
Additionally, how are you planning on getting that many people up to the roof? None of them have FOBs… So at some point the management is going to figure out that this is happening and will kick everyone out.
