Description: On behalf of Viacom and Nickelodeon, we invite you and your office to our 8th Annual “World Wide Day of Play” on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 10:00am to 4:00pm on The Ellipse of the National Mall. The objective of WWDOP is to connect with kids in a meaningful way, inspiring them to make healthy choices and embrace an active lifestyle. Nickelodeon, along with all Nick networks and websites, stops programming in the afternoon to make a statement about the importance of getting outside and being active.
WWDOP is celebrated with more than 3,500 organized grassroots events in all 50 states and 13 countries, including US military bases worldwide. To date hundreds of thousands of families have participated in WWDOP, and millions more do it on their own with the help of Nickelodeon resources and grassroots partner events. This year, Nickelodeon is partnering with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition and Let’s Move to motivate kids to take the President’s Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) Challenge.
8th Annual World Wide Day of Play: Confirmed!
Nickelodeon is adding NBA superstar athletes LeBron James (Miami Heat); Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks); Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets); Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat); Olympic gold medalist and professional soccer star, Abby Wambach (magicJack); and NFL veteran Damien Woody to the talent roster for its 8th Annual Worldwide Day of Play. They will join the casts of Nickelodeon’s iCarly, Big Time Rush and Victorious and thousands of kids and families as the network hosts the biggest celebration of play in the history of the initiative, on Saturday, Sept. 24, on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. The athletes will also be featured in Worldwide Day of Play: Get Your Game On!, an action-packed half-hour special airing on Nickelodeon at 7:30 p.m. (all times ET/PT).
Nickelodeon’s biggest stars will be on hand at Worldwide Day of Play’s Global Headquarters in DC including: Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice, Keke Palmer, Jeff Sutphen and the cast of Big Time Rush. Worldwide Day of Play will culminate on site and on TV in a grand finale, concert extravaganza with live music, Nick talent, celebrities and the crowd joining together to celebrate getting active and staying healthy!
