Old school country/folk song-writing, distortion soaked guitar freak-outs and lead singer John McCauley’s gravel mouthed vocal chords all mash together to form Deer Tick, a Rhode Island band that will storm the 9:30 Club this Sunday night brandishing their unique home spun methods of music making.
Formed in 2004 originally as a solo project for McCauley, over three albums Deer Tick has evolved into a five piece rock ‘n roll band with the potential to cross over into the mainstream due to their ability to put on amazing live shows and record dark and introspective songs that remain irresistibly catchy. Heck, even Brian Williams from NBC is a fan.
The band is on the road right now promoting their fourth studio album Devine Providence (8/10 from Spin) tickets to their electric live show are still on sale. They might not be a house hold name yet, but if you see them live it is something you aren’t likely to forget.
