NASA NPP Mission Lunch & Learn Briefing
Location: Rayburn 2325
Description: NASA NPP Mission Lunch & Learn Briefing
NASA will present a briefing introducing the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System Preparatory Project (NPP) mission, which is scheduled to launch October 25, 2011 from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
NPP will orbit the Earth about 14 times each day and observe nearly the entire surface. NPP’s data will be used operationally by NOAA for short and long-term weather forecasting and environmental monitoring and will be the bridge between NASA’s Earth Observing System (EOS) satellites, NOAA’s current operational polar-orbiting satellites, and the forthcoming series of NOAA’s Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) satellites.
We invite you to bring your questions and feedback to this informal, interactive event!
This event will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2011 in the Rayburn House Office Building (2325) from 12:00-1:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served. All staff are invited to participate in this event.
