Our Interview with Jack Abramoff
Jack Abramoff was the original “super lobbyist.” Convicted in 2006 of mail fraud and conspiracy, he was at the heart of an extensive corruption investigation that led to the conviction of many in D.C., most notably U.S. Representatives Bob Ney and Tom Delay. He served three years, six months of a six-year sentence in federal prison before being released early which even lead to a Kevin Spacey film called Casino Jack.
He recently wrote the book, Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth about Washington Corruption from America’s Most Notorious Lobbyist. His book gives Abramoff’s perspective on the scandal, and his insider’s advice on how to best reform Washington’s corrupt system. Through his memoir and forthcoming publicity tour, Mr. Abramoff seeks to use his experience to transform himself into a Beltway whistle-blower.
Few know more than he about how Washington really works. Abramoff once famously labeled the dysfunctional and Byzantine system which has become our federal government as the “favor factory”. None can better show why this factory needs to be shuttered, so good government and democracy can prevail.
In our interview, our own Andrew Heaton* asks Jack to give us his famous Ronald Reagan impression, his thoughts on DC Politics and advice for Hill staff and Lobbyist! Click here to see our interview on YouTube with Mr. Jack Abramoff.
