King Across the Ages

Monday, January 16, 2-4pm, Washington National Cathedral
3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW Washington, DC 20016.

Reserve this day for a tribute honoring the life of Dr. King. The annual event celebrates his legacy through service projects, interfaith dialogue, and performances of Washington DC’s rich music and dance heritage. Featured groups such as Malcolm X Dancers & Drummers, St. Augustine Gospel Choir, poet Tony Keith, Urban Nation H.I.P.—H.O.P. Choir, Children of the Gospel Choir, and City Dance with singers from School Without Walls will “rock the nave” from 2 to 4 pm. Admission is a donation of either a non-perishable canned food item or a new children’s book.. A coat and winter clothing drive is also planned. For more information see www.cathedral.org.


Let Freedom Ring

The Kennedy Center and Georgetown University present Let Freedom Ring, featuring Bobby McFerrin and the Let Freedom Ring Choir in a musical tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Monday, January 16, 6pm, Concert Hall, Kennedy Center, Washington DC.

The program, part of the free daily performance series on the Millennium Stage, features Grammy Award–winning vocalist Bobby McFerrin and the Let Freedom Ring Choir with Music Director Rev. Nolan Williams Jr. Georgetown University will award the tenth annual John Thompson Legacy of a Dream Award to Clarence Jones, Martin Luther King Jr.’s former attorney and speechwriter, who helped draft the now famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Free tickets are required. Tickets will be distributed two (2) per person in line on Monday, January 16, 2012, in the Hall of Nations,
