From emerging designers, to an eco fashion show to the couture collection, DC Fashion Week helped Washingtonians forget about the bitter, February weather for a week. And, of course, no event in this city would be complete without a networking party- this one with a fashionista twist.
Fashion Week showcases designers, merchanders and models and brings visibility to Washington as an international fashion mecca.
The finale came Sunday at the French Embassy with the 18th International Couture Collections. In a city with such international influence, world culture has broken into the American fashion industy as well, proven by the runway show.
Local designers, like Mooi Handmade Jewelry and Jayne Orthwein’s fabulous handbags, Anna Bags, were also spotlighted.
If you missed February’s Fasion Week, not to worry, DC does it twice as nice as our New York and LA counterparts and hosts the event bi-annually. Stay tuned for September’s Fashion Week lineup.
