Independent book publisher seeks speechwriter to provide freelance support writing keynote speeches for authors. The speechwriter is responsible for collaborating with the author and publisher’s teams to fully understand the goals for the presentation, as well as any nuances that may be important for the author. The speechwriter is also responsible for being completely familiar with the contents of the author’s book in order to pull content and anecdotes from that source.
Candidates should have at least 2- 3 years experience in speechwriting, preferably for a diverse set of presenters. Experience working with high profile clients is also key as the speechwriter will interact directly with authors on a regular basis.
For each freelance project, the speechwriter would need to be involved with the following:
– Thorough review of the book and the author’s overall platform
– Kickoff meeting with the publishing team and author to discuss the goals, direction, tone and audience for the presentation
– Creating an outline of content for the presentation which will be reviewed and approved by the author (this may require a few rounds of outlining)
– Drafting both a 30 minute speech and recommendations for accompanying visuals
– Working with the author on revisions and changes to the speech until it is complete
Speechwriters will be compensated per project and will receive upwards of $1500 per project.
